Join local artist Deborah Nixon-Wallace for this 5 week portrait drawing class for all abilities including beginners. Each week you will learn a different technique to further your skill in drawing the human face.

Wildlife Portrait Class with Robyn Clarke

This fun and informative class welcomes adult students of all levels including beginners.
Join local artist & teacher Robyn Clarke for 6 weeks of drawing with a focus on the facial
elements of animals. Each week will have a different focus on what makes up an animal’s face, with the final class combining all to make a finished piece.

In this class we explore the core principles of successful drawing – Shape, Light, Tone and Proportion. This class will develop your ability to produce successful drawings using both graphite pencil and charcoal.
We will use fun and challenging exercises to develop your skills and personal style from still life to basic charcoal portraiture.

Portrait Drawing with Carolyn Large

8 Weeks | $240
This class is a great opportunity to take your drawing to the next level in a relaxed and welcoming setting. It is ideal for those who already have basic drawing skills or have completed the Drawing Fundamentals class. In this class you will learn how to produce realistic portraits by using a step-by-step method in a warm and supportive environment.
You will:
- Learn how to measure general proportions and block in the structure of the head using construction lines on both white and toned surfaces.
- Complete portraits using graphite and charcoal pencil to create line and tone.
- Learn how to use erasers to establish highlights and light tones and develop shadows in either graphite or charcoal.
- Study methods for drawing facial features.
- Use the work of past artists as references for in-class portraits.

Pen and Wash Watercolour with Aurora Foo

In this class students will be able to learn and understand how to use soft chalk pastels. Techniques and Details with William Ritchie

William’s class is an “open” art class: paint in oil, acrylic, watercolour or gouache. This class is focused at details and techniques. Students are encouraged to tap into William’s extensive knowledge and learn from his example by identifying unique characteristics in subjects
and representing them as realistically as possible. This class is suitable for all student from beginner’s to advanced.

Manga Drawing with Aurora Foo (age 10-18)

Children interested in animation and comic style art have an opportunity to develop their creativity with a teacher passionate about visual storytelling.
Accomplished in the Japanese style of drawing known as Manga, Aurora Foo shows students how to create compelling illustrated stories in a fun and focused class that explores narrative design processes. She guides students in using pencil and watercolour to define character and setting, while demonstrating how they can incorporate atmosphere, tension, drama and humour into their artwork.
This class does use online course materials. A device to login to course materials is preferred eg. iPad, tablet, laptop, mobile etc. (WiFi available) Students can still join if they do not have a device.
